So do what the one person advised and don’t allow it in the startup folder. The system resources, yes it runs in the background taking up 2140K of memory. Sure you can sit there and download everything that webshots has but I would think that a decreese in the individuals performance would show up first. The band width is only an issue on the initial download. Most of the storage is done on the server so hard drive space is not a question for us on the individual PC’s. I don’t know abou the PC’s in you company but most of ours are new, PIII 700 Mhz+, 13 gig HD+, 128 Mram +, 32 Meg Video. Hopefully you would have a better idea of who has the software installed that way. Hopefully that would reduce the number of users going out and downloading it. Therefore it can be better managed, and updates or new images could go there. If it does become allowed I wouldrecommend downloading a copy to the server where it can be installed from. If the users aren’t doing heavy processing, it’s not an issue. Therefore any wallpaper causes a small performance hit, depending on its size and the color depth settings. A 600×800 photo in 65M colors is going to take up a chunk of RAM as the wallpaper. Ask the boss this question: Does you want your employees hogging your limited bandwidth and spending work time browsing the WebShots site looking for desktop art? You advise the boss on IT matters, but he or she is the one who approves the policy of what is permitted on the company network.
